Ruth has been working for UW-Extension in the Lake Superior area since October 2008. Her efforts include developing partnerships to carry out educational programs on stormwater, shoreland restoration and effective watershed-based forestry management. Ruth provides programs and materials for private landowners, towns and cities about natural resource issues in the Lake Superior region. She previously served as executive director for the Dane County Natural Heritage Foundation, and the Bayfield Regional Conservancy. Ruth holds a B.A. in biology from Carleton College and a M.S. in Natural Resources—Environmental Education from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

John came to Extension from the DNR, where he worked in a variety of resource management positions for 17 years. Most recently, he worked as a Water Management Specialist in Spooner, a position he has held since 1992. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management from UW-Stevens Point.

Given the abundance of lakes, rivers, and forest resources in the Headwaters area, Bill has devoted a great deal of his time educating folks about protecting our water resources and making informed decisions regarding our public and private forests. His projects include shoreland restoration workshops, invasive species educational initiatives, forest stewardship training for beginners and advanced woodland owners, stormwater management programs, and educational materials and displays development. Prior to joining the Natural Resources Education Program, Bill was with UW-Extension as an Associate Outreach Specialist in the Department of Forest Ecology at UW-Madison. He has also worked in the DNR Bureau of Forestry with the Wisconsin Forest Inventory and as a tree improvement specialist. He served as a community forestry volunteer with the Peace Corps in Nepal and as an infantryman with the US Army. Bill holds a BS in Forest Science and a Master's in Forestry from UW-Madison.

Dan Zerr joined UW-Extension in June 2008. Prior to that he worked as an environmental scientist in the Watershed Management Section of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in Topeka, and taught environmental and physical science at Friends University in Topeka. He was a research associate for the Center for Agriculture, Resources and Environmental Systems at the University of Missouri - Columbia. He also worked in radio broadcasting for many years in South Dakota. Dan has a BS in biology from Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD, and an MS in environmental science (environmental communications) from Indiana University.

Kris joined UW-Extension in April 2004. After receiving her bachelor's degree in Forest Science from the UW-Madison, she joined the Peace Corps where she worked as an agroforestry volunteer for two years. Upon her return, she worked for Oregon State University as a researcher looking at spotted owl habitat. She returned to Madison, where she earned a master's degree in Social Forestry. Previous to joining UW-Extension, she worked for Cooperative Development Services working with private forest owners.

Prior to joining UW-Extension, Randy was a field forester for Minnesota DNR-Forestry for 33 years. He managed 14,000 acres of state forest land within the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Forest in south eastern Minnesota. His responsibilities included forest management planning, timber harvest, tree planting, timber stand improvement, land acquisition, fire management, forest recreation, seed orchard cultivation, private forest management, and budgeting. He holds national credentials for emergency management under the incident command system (ICS), and was a team member in one of Minnesota's three MNICS Incident Command teams for 5 years. Randy holds a Bachelors Degree in Forestry from the University of Minnesota, and has been a private forestry consultant in Wisconsin and Iowa since 1982.

Chad joined UW-Extension in 2004 after 8 years with the DNR. Most recently, he was a Wastewater Specialist but also worked in the Lake Management program and Lakes Research program. Chad has also taught environmental science at Marian College for a number of years. After earning a bachelor's degree in Aquatic Toxicology from UW-Stevens Point, Chad completed a master's degree in Water Resources Management at UW-Madison.

Exo is the former Watershed Management Coordinator for the Dane County Lakes and Watershed Division. Prior to that position, Exo was a Water Quality Demonstration Specialist for UW-Extension. Exo holds a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois, with a concentration in Environmental Policy and Planning. His Bachelor's Degree in Resource Management is from UW-Stevens Point.

Lower Wisconsin Natural Resources
Peggy joined UW-Extension in 1998 following working at the Lancaster Agricultural Research Station collecting and compiling data from rotational grazing projects. Peggy's programs currently include Stormwater and Non Point Source education, Woodland Landowner classes, Weeds and Invasive Plants programs, Citizen Stream Monitoring, and Drinking Water and Groundwater education. She also coordinates a resource library that was initiated and funded through a community-based committee. Peggy holds a BS in Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and an MS in Horticulture from Virginia Tech.

Debbie Beyer came to UWEX in 2002. She works to build capacity within watershed and other conservation organizations and provides educational programming and support to agencies and organizations for a variety of land and water resource topics. Before joining UWEX, she served as chief naturalist for the Wisconsin State Park System and statewide interpretive program coordinator for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Debbie has a B.S. degree in wildlife management/biology and an M.S. degree in environmental education and interpretation from UW-Stevens Point.

Gail came to UWEX in February 2006. Before joining UWEX, she was Director of Education for the Aldo Leopold Nature Center. She also directed educational programs at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, was a Water Resources Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and a teacher in the Milwaukee and Mount Horeb Public School systems. Gail is a Board Member for the Wisconsin Wetland Association and has been an advisor for a variety of statewide and national curriculum programs. She holds BS in Elementary Education and MS in Water Resources Management, both from the UW-Madison.

From 1994 to 1997, Yencha served as the UWEX Southeast Area Rural Water Quality Educator. Prior to that, he was a conservation technician with the Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department. Yencha has a Masters Degree in Environmental Science and Policy from UW-Green Bay, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northland College.
